Sluice Box
Sluice Boxes
Sluice boxes are one of the most effective non-motorized methods of gold recovery. Like most recovery methods, sluice boxes use gravity to trap the gold. A sluice box is placed in a stream or river, and gold bearing material is fed into the front of the box. The lighter material washes away due to the force of the running water, while the much denser gold and other heavies become trapped behind riffles or in miners moss inside the sluice.
